The best bet for continuing healthy weight loss.

I lost 15 pounds by following JJ Smith's 10 Day Green Smoothie Cleanse. If you have a powerful enough blender, the smoothies listed in it and this book are extremely tasty and satisfying, especially when you see results quickly. Neither books are about a diet, but about a lifestyle change. This book however, contains recipes for supper instead of the 3 smoothies per day. The ones I am able to eat, I make for my family as well. They have enjoyed them just as much as I have and being extremely picky, I was worried about that. They cannot do the actual cleanse right now, but I am changing their menu regardless. The only problem, for me at least, is the amount of recipes that contain seafood. I'm highly allergic, so I either have to recycle the recipes without it or substitute. I know that seafood is good for us, but I do wish there were more recipes without it. For those who don't have this problem or enjoy seafood, this should not be a problem at all.

Horrible Text Book - DO NOT BUY

I'm studying this book as part of my MBA and felt that it deserved a whole pile of rotten tomatoes.

I have never come across a book that was so pointlessly impenetrable (and I've read a lot of journal papers and science, math and economic textbooks)

in short, here are my main issues with it

1. The book is exceedingly verbose.

2. The examples are poorly explained and are not particularly helpful

3. The figures are poor or absent all together.

4. The book shrouds an otherwise not too difficult topic in waffle

5. There are no solutions! (what is with that? how am I supposed to learn if I can't check my working?)

To Lecturers considering using this for your classes - DON"T

To Students stuck with this book - COMPLAIN LOUDLY.

This book has pride of place on my shelf. As a neurochemist with 30 years experience in the sciences I have always been interested in consciousness and its relationship to reality. This book tackles this subject head on, and wins me over!

The book will not be easy reading for everyone. Those without a background in this area may find certain passages heavy going. Knowledge or physics is not assumed. However, without some background knowledge of the philosophy of the New Physics, some of the statements in this book have to be taken on faith. Still the book is about consciousness and how its dimensional structure is created, not theoretical physics.

The message in the book is simple and is one that has been stated in many other books. What distinguishes this book from many others is that it discards the usual waffle and mystic lingo and concentrates on a simple description of how consciousness evolves to create a dimensional view of reality. From this view comes our concept of space, time and matter... all products of awareness.

You may find this book difficult to understand if you have not read other books on the subject, or if you take conscious experience or reality at "face value". As a neurobiologist, I am well aware how the brain is able to build its own view of reality. Try reading some of the works of Douglas E. Harding first before reading this book, if you feel that would help. At any rate, the book is short, so there is little to be lost by reading it.

Every scientist should read this book. Reading it should make them ask the question, "what does it mean to discover some new scientific fact?"

A New Approach To The Basis of Everything

This book leads beyond the basic immateriality of the universe as posited by particle physics and quantum mechanics. His thesis is that consciousness is the basis of everything and he has an interesting theory of dimensionality in its various ramifications. Most of the books on modern physics do not explore any theory of consciousness at all, so this one is a refreshing and interesting change. I recommend it highly to all those
interested in philosophy and physics.

As the title implies, a "structure" of consciousness

Being well trained in Quantum Relativity some years ago, I am no stranger to Quantum Physics nor Relativity. Consciousness was always a main topic for me as well. I found this book to be consistent with science and philosophy. It is a well presented argument for what the title implies, a structure of consciousness. However; it leaves the age old difficult problem of what consciousness is unaddressed. Perhaps rightly so. Anyone who would profess to know what consciousness is, would be a fool or a liar in my opinion. The "hard" problem of consciousness remains the "hard" problem. However, how it functions without referring to what it is, is well described in this book.
Many without a good background in quantum theory and relativity would find the scientific explanations perhaps too difficult to understand or appreciate. But, if you want an explanation of how consciousness works, and you are willing to understand the physics of it, I recommend this book.
I have also studied and tried many things in this world, and oddly enough, the author's conclusions are quit similar to some of Scientology's main anxioms. This may sound surprising to many, however, truth comes from many sources, not one.
The origin of consciousness and mankind, remain what they are, our great mystery. To fool oneself into believing one knows all, is just that, foolishness. Let that be my words of wisdom to scientists and scientologists alike. However, if you accept what physics has discovered and accept that you are a conscious being (perhaps spirit if I may use the word), you will find the explanations very interesting, bordering upon "the truth".

About the Author
ROBERT LEWIS is the teaching pastor of Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. He has an M.Div. and a master's degree in New Testament Greek from Western Conservative Baptist Theological Seminary, a Doctor of Ministry degree from Talbot Theological Seminary, and has done graduate work in marriage and family counseling. Robert has written three books on marriage and has been a featured speaker at national and international conferences for Campus Crusade's Family Ministry for seven years. He is married and has four children.

Bill Hendricks is President of The Giftedness Center, a Dallas-based consulting firm specializing in organizational effectiveness and individual career guidance. Bill is the author or coauthor of seventeen books, including Your Work Matters to God, Rockin’ the Roles, The Word in Life Study Bible, The Power of Uniqueness, and The Light That Never Dies: A Story of Hope In the Shadows of Grief. His writings have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The Dallas Morning News, Christianity Today, and numerous other publications. He holds an undergraduate degree in English from Harvard University, a master of science in mass communications from Boston University, and a master of arts in biblical studies from Dallas Theological Seminary. He is a Board member for Pine Cove, Inc., serves on the Steering Committee for an international consortium called the Theology of Work Project, and is an active member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church. More important than all of these pursuits, however, are the three amazing daughters, Brittany, Kristin, and Amy, whom the Lord gave to Bill by his late wife Nancy.

It's a must read for anyone that wants to understand balance in relationships and how you can rock your role!

Having a certain perspective of how a relationship should be, I followed that journey only to find out the way I was in relationship wasn't working out. Constant fights, anger resentment and lack of true joy and I had no idea why. I stumbled upon this book looking for answers to a lot of questions and what I wanted to do and what I did not want to do in my next relationship. I always experienced 50/50 and it was understanding your role in a relationship how that can improve the quality of the relationship.

It's a must read for anyone that wants to understand balance in relationships and how you can rock your role!

Great Resource for Marriages.

Every marriage partner need info to help them be the BEST partner. This information, if utilized, will help a marriage. As a man (husband), I need a reference book to refresh my memory on one, if not the most important, thing in my life --my Wife! How to supply the things each partner needs to help have a healthy flourishing marriage and family. God Bless y'all.

Not new info, but revealing point of view

I thought this a pretty easy read. Finished it in about 10 hours. Not to say it is not impactful. There is a lot of meat, here, but presented in a meaningful way even a guy can understand about relationships.

This was about the clearest, more concise explanation of the roles of the husband and wife without the confusing fluff in other books. As opposed to saying be a servant leader, and die to yourself and go forth and be a godly husband, he explains it and gives examples. The same with the role of the wife, which by the way is not to be submissive. Her role is explained, with examples.

The first part goes through an explanation why the 50's traditional model of marriage doesn't work, and the response to that being the 50/50 egalitarian model is riddled with false assumptions. Then he explains the biblical model and how conditions today are not that different from the Roman period in which it was written.

The bottomline, the husband and wife have roles to fulfill, each is separate, complementary, and equal. The husband is to be the servant leader in the model of Christ, the wife is the soulmate helper to complement and support the husband to fulfill his role, since the demand of which are more than any man can fulfill. Submission is discussed and the modern interpretation of the word is insufficient. It is not to be a doormat for abuse of some egomaniac man, but the proper response to the servant leadership that is the role of the man. To encourage the man to fulfill his role, which is too easily abandoned when confront with obstacles like a dominating wife, submission is required.

They seem to borrow heavily (intentionally or not) from the 5 Love Needs by Gary and Barbara Rosberg (another good book).

This is one of the must reads for married couples or intended to marry couples.

I couldn't put this book down. I read it in a day . What Mr.Jones wrote was the truth and made me think back to all my past relationships and why they turned out the way they did. Amazing read

This book was awesome!! I follow a few people on Instagram who always raved about it and when I began following the author, I became curious about the book. It came at an interesting time in my life and I'm glad that I read it. I definitely could connect with many of the topics discussed and I felt like a lot of it was written for my particular situations. I recommend this book!

Just short of a PKD masterpiece

A truly astonishing work that, in my opinion, should easily stand among PKD's best work save for one flaw - an unnecessary epilogue that saps a bit of power from the otherwise gut-wrenching finish, putting a happy polish on what should have been a more bleak finale.

Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said is, like the works that best represent Philip K. Dick's career, a "What is reality?" book. The scenario he lets unfold - one day a guy is the Johnny Carson of his time, known and loved by all, the next day he is an unknown without an identity and doesn't know why - keeps you turning pages, wanting to know the truth as badly as the protagonist. The world he creates is, as always, intricate in its not-quite-the-world-we-know details. And the ending? Wow. Remove that epilogue (which in a very unDickian manner wraps everything up in a neat little bow at the end) and it's very powerful. If you've read PKD before, this will be familiar to you - twisted reality, hazy drugs, a world turned on its head - and if you haven't, Flow My Tears offers a good look at everything that makes up what a Philip k. Dick book is.

If only it didn't have that darn Hollywood ending ...

Can't say much more than other brilliant reviewers here

Can't say much more than other brilliant reviewers here. The very intelligent, insightful calibre of most of their reviews tells you something about the book that is worth their attention. Phillip K. Dick wrote a huge number of short stories and novels that are only now able, with the magic of cg, to be made into popular movies, standing the test of time. Although there are some easily forgiven minor future gaffs of technology, Dick's true talent is in the big picture of predicting the way we are headed and in "what if" scenarios. Most of his books I would actually categorize as psychological thrillers, scaring us into mending our ways because this is what can happen if we keep on the way the world is so blithley heading. Flow my tears is one of his better books - those written in the 60's and 70's for me, his best. For anyone not familiar with PKD, this is a good one to start with - you will understand whether you just don't get it and drop the author, or love the quirky originality and have that rare joy of finding an author you haven't read, who has left you a huge body of work to keep you going.
